AEW Dynamite Live Results (05/08/2024)


On tonight's show, Kenny Omega is set to address the AEW fans after he was brutally attacked by The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Jack Perry at the end of last week's show. Plus, Trent Beretta will wrestle his former best friend Orange Cassidy, after Cassidy revealed Trent ended the career of their fellow friend Chuck Taylor. Also set for the show, Serena Deeb will say a few words, and Rocky Romero will wrestle "Switchblade" Jay White.


"AEW Dynamite" is set to air at 8 pm ET on TBS.


Adam Copeland enters the arena and says he will face Brody King in a No Disqualification Match. Roll titles, pyro explodes.


Orange Cassidy vs. Trent Berretta


They immediately begin throwing punches at each other. Trent dodges an Orange Punch and retreats to ringside. Orange Cassidy hits a Suicide Dive and pummels Trent around ringside. OC sends Trent into the ringpost. Trent comes back with a lariat. The referee is allowing both men to fight at ringside due to relaxed rules. Trent facetiously gives a thumbs-up. Trent throws OC into the barricade and pummels him more. OC recovers, hops the barricade and pockets his hands. Trent chases OC into the crowd, where Trent eats a superkick. They brawl through the crowd, with OC in firm control. OC mounts Trent and punches him as the crowd counts on. OC celebrates among the people. 


Trent comes back but OC reverses a suplex into the aisleway. Orange charges Trent and Trent dumps OC over the barricade back to the floor. Trent goes for a leap but Cassidy trips him up. Both men hobble their way back in the ring. Trent hits a Busaiku Knee Strike. Orange hits Orange Punch. Both men are down. Don Callis walks to ringside. We head to commercial.


Back from commercial and both men are wearily trading blows. They trade counters until Cassidy spins into a Satellite DDT. Orange mounts Trent and pummels him. Trent comes back with a half-and-half suplex. Trent hits a short-arm lariat. Trent hits a series of piledrivers on Cassidy. Trent hits a running knee. Trent exposes the turnbuckle. Orange exposes the turnbuckle. Trent gets sent into the buckle. Orange rolls him up for the pinfall.


WINNER: Orange Cassidy


After the match, Trent attacks Cassidy and dislodges the ringsteps. Trent hits a piledriver on the ringsteps. Trent then catapults Cassidy neck-first into the frame of the ring apron. Trent has a tool box. Cassidy has a chair. Don Callis separates the two men. Kris Statlander talks down Trent. Don Callis talks down Cassidy. Cassidy and Callis exit together.

In the parking lot, The New Elite park their big car in Tony Khan's parking spot.

Kenny Omega Declares Anarchy (In The Arena)


Kenny Omega is shown in the hospital. He says The Elite were like family to him. He says that he has business to take care of before he gets surgery. He says at AEW Double or Nothing there will be an Anarchy At The Arena Match, in which The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada will face FTR and two stars to be revealed later in the night.


Tony Schiavone welcomes Serena Deeb to the arena, where she explains that losing at Double or Nothing is not an option. She says she came back from the hardest 15 months of her life after suffering seizures. She says the experience was scary and mystifying. Deeb says that dreaming of being AEW Women's World Champion kept her motivated as she dealt with the issues. Toni Storm's music interrupts her.


Storm calls her a charity case, infuriating Deeb. Deeb says she will fight for her life to be champion. Storm says she doesn't give a "single solitary sh**" about Deeb's issues. Deeb gets in her face. Deeb blocks a sneak attack and lays out the champion.


Backstage, Rocky Romero tells a wounded Orange Cassidy that he should try to mend fences so he, OC and Trent can challenge for the Six Man Tag Titles.


Mariah May vs. Harley Cameron


Cameron charges May and unleashes a flurry of offense for a quick nearfall. Cameron keeps up the assault on May. Cameron taunts May as she dominates her. May fights back and sends Cameron into the corner. May hits a series of running elbows in the corner and follows up with a spinning side slam. May hits a Shotgun Dropkick. Cameron retreats to the corner, where Saraya tends to her. May goes for Cameron but Cameron fights back, slamming May on the apron as the match goes to commercial.


Back from commercial and Mariah and Harley collide in mid-air. Both women are down. Saraya is screaming. Both women fight to their feet and trade blows. Mariah gets the upperhand, staggering May. May hits a huge Missile Dropkick from the top rope. May sets up for a Big Boot but Saraya pulls Harley out of the ring. May smacks Saraya and rolls Harley back in the ring. Back in the ring, Harley rolls up Mariah for a nearfall. May hits Mayhem for the pinfall.


WINNER: Mariah May


Cameron and Saraya attack May but Mina Shirakawa runs out to make the save. Mina and Mariah share a toast of champagne.


Backstage, PAC says that he is not concerned with the future of Death Triangle but is interrupted by Jay White. White says Death Triangle is dead and PAC needs to be concerned with himself.


Swerve confronts Christian


Swerve enters with the title and says he's mad at Christian for stealing a lock of his hair and demands Christian bring "the rest of The Addams Family" to the ring. Christian enters. Christian says there won't be any championship this year, as the Montreal Canadiens are about to beat The Edmonton Oilers in hockey.


Christian says that Swerve has ridden a wave of support that will crash on the shore soon, as Christian feels he deserves to be world champion now. Christian says he will foreclose on Swerve's House, take his title, and his teeth. Swerve gets back up from The Gates of Agony and Brian Cage. Swerve says he will beat Christian's ass like Kendrick beat Drake, and that it won't bet the first time someone from the west coast beat a fake father from Canada. Swerve promises to make Christian say "I Quit." Christian is speechless but Gates of Agony and Brian Cage attack Swerve. The trio hit a huge powerbomb on Swerve, leaving him laying.


The Gates of Agony and Cage fight off the referees and security, delivering a vicious double team maneuver through the announce table, much to The Patriarchy's glee. Backstage, The Young Bucks shake Christian's hand and thanks them for putting on a great show.


Backstage, Willow Nightingale runs down her recent resume and accomplishments and promises to defeat Mercedes Mone at Double or Nothing.


Rocky Romero vs. Jay White


Romero gets the advantage early, using his speed to hold White at bay, even hitting an impossibly quick suicide dive. Back in the ring, Romero goes for Forever Lariats but eats a lariat from White as we head to commercial.


Back from commercial and White is in firm command, stretching and pummeling Romero. Romero counters a suplex and hits a Tornado DDT off the ropes. They fight to the outside where Romero hits a huge attack and rolls WHite back in the ring. Diving Crossbody gets a nearfall for Romero. Romero counters a Sleeper Suplex with a rollup for a nearfall. White counters Sliced Bread. Romero counters Blade Runner. Romero rolls up White for a nearfall. Romero hits a Running Sliced Bread. White counters Sliced Bread. White hits a Suplex. White hits Blade Runner for the pinfall.


WINNER: Jay White


The Gunns attack Romero but PAC's music hits and the Bullet Club Gold retreat.


Big Bill & "The Learning Tree" Chris Jericho vs. Local Competitors


Big Bill almost immediately tags in and fights both local competitors at once. Bill hits a huge Bossman Slam and a vicious chokeslam. One more chokeslam later and Big Bill tags in Jericho. Jericho hits Judas Effect for the pinfall.


WINNERS: Big Bill & Chris Jericho


Jericho says he's happy to be in Calgary and immediately corrects himself to Edmonton. Jericho apologizes and says he deserves the "You f***ed up chants." Jericho says he learns from mistakes. Jericho thanks Big Bill for all his help and says Bill is already learning. Jericho thanks Shibata for a great match. Jericho thanks Hook. Tony Schiavone joins Jericho in the ring. Schiavone says Hook will return next week on "Dynamite." Jericho says he looks forward to the return of Hook.


No Disqualification Match For The AEW TNT Championship: Adam Copeland (c) vs. Brody King


They lock up to start building in ferocity as we head to commercial. Back from commercial and the fight has spilled to the outside, where Copeland takes advantage, smacking King with a chair. King counters a slam on the apron. Copeland gouges the eye of King and DDT's him on a chair on the apron. King is busted open. Copeland pummels Brody as a bleeding Brody smiles. King gets back in the ring where Copeland hits him with a Flying Crossbody for a nearfall.


Copeland wedges a chair in the corner. Copeland takes the crossbar from a chair. King hits a desperation lariat. King sends Copeland head-first into the chair in the corner. We head to commercial.


Back from commercial and King locks in a rear naked choke on the apron. King climbs to the top rope and tries to hang Copeland, who throws King off the top rope. Double big boot and both men are down. King recovers and gains the upperhand. He drags Copeland to the corner and hits a Running Cannonball for a nearfall. Copeland counters a Gonzo Bomb with an Edge-O-Matic. King counters a Spear with a Spike Piledriver. Copeland and King fight to the apron, where Copeland hits a Death Valley Driver. Copeland Spears King through a table at ringside. They fight back into the ring where Copeland hits a Spear for the pinfall.


WINNER AND STILL AEW TNT CHAMPION: Adam Copeland


Brody King attacks after the match, pummeling Copeland. Kyle O'Reilly comes to his aid. Backstage, Mercedes Mone, who says she thrives in places like AEW. Mone is going to be promoting AEW all week and spending the rest of her time training. She says she's ready for Willow Nightingale. Mone says Willow took a year of Mone's career. Mone says she questioned her abilities but she "[is] that b***h." Mone says she's going to steal Willow's title and her smile.


Elsewhere backstage, Kyle O'Reilly asks Copeland for a Cope Open match in his hometown on Saturday. Copeland says O'Reilly's on.


Main Event Continued (One Last Thing)


The New Elite head to the arena, saying the show doesn't end until they say it's over. Matt Jackson says he got an overrun from the network for important business. Kazuchika Okada says "Get Well Soon" to Kenny Omega. Matt Jackson sends well wishes to Tony Khan. Jackson says The New Elite are here to make AEW a better place. Nick Jackson agrees to the Anarchy In The Arena Match. FTR come out. They introduce Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson as their Anarchy In The Arena teammates. Everyone fights as the show goes off the air.
