Tonight’s episode will see the AEW World Trios Championship Tournament continue, as House of Black and Dark Order face off, with the winner moving on to the semi-finals of the tournament. Elsewhere, exclusive footage following CM Punk’s shocking quick loss to Jon Moxley this week on AEW Dynamite will be shown.
Claudio Castagnoli will also face off against Dustin Rhodes for the ROH World Championship, with Wardlow also defending his TNT Championship in an open challenge against Ryan Nemeth. Finally, Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo will face off against Ortiz & Ruby Soho in an AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship match, and we’ll hear from TBS Champion Jade Cargill, as well.
Dark Order def. House of Black via pinfall
The trio of John Silver, 10, and Alex Reynolds took down House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews) to advance to the next round. Things came to an end after Miro appeared to cause a distraction for Dark Order.
After Miro began brawling with Buddy Matthews for a bit, Malakai attempted to stop things, but was rolled up by Reynolds for the win. Following the match, House of Black beat down Miro, with Sting and Darby Allin coming out for the save.
Wardlow (c) def. Ryan Nemeth – TNT Championship
Wardlow’s TNT Championship Open Challenge didn’t result in much competition for the reigning superstar, as he made short work of Ryan Nemeth.
Just a couple of minutes after the match started, Wardlow ended things with a vicious powerbomb that won him the match and notched another title defense under his belt.
Powerhouse Hobbs def. Ashton Day via pinfall
In another relatively quick match, Hobbs did away with Day in fast fashion, toying with the superstar for a bit before ending things with a spinebuster.
Meanwhile, backstage, The Factory was shown launching an ambush on Ricky Starks, with the camera catching up to the group after it was done and showing Starks bleeding from his mouth as QT Marshall punched him in the face with an unknown object. Hobbs watched on from the ring with a smile on his face in the process.
Tay Melo & Sammy Guevara (c) def. Ruby Soho & Ortiz via pinfall – AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship
The reigning champions defended their belts in a hard-fought victory. Late in the match, Soho took out Guevara with an incredible poisonrana after Guevara began taunting the superstar. However, Guevara was able to get up and break up Soho’s pin attempt of Melo in time to keep the match going.
In the end, late interference from Anna Jay — who came down to the ring and threw Soho into the steps — proved to be the biggest factor, as Ortiz was too distracted by what was happening, which allowed Guevara to hit a springboard cutter for the win.
Footage from CM Punk’s loss to Jon Moxley at AEW Dynamite was shown again, with exclusive bonus footage of Punk being helped backstage. Once seated, a dejected Punk wondered what might be wrong with his recently surgically repaired foot.
Claudio Castagnoli (c) def. Dustin Rhodes – ROH World Championship
In a stellar main event, Claudio Castagnoli closed out tonight’s episode of AEW Rampage with a Ring of Honor World Championship title defense against Dustin Rhodes. Late in the match, after both superstars had been brawling back and forth for nearly 20 minutes, it was Castagnoli who was able to overcome an inadvertent hit to the groin by Rhodes to land an uppercut for the win.
