AEW Revolution Results (03/05/2023)


Zero Hour: Pre-Show


Renee Paquette kicks off the show and runs through the card.


RJ City interviews Orange Cassidy and Danhausen.


Renee Paquette and Don Callis discuss the Texas Death Match between Jon Moxley and Hangman Page. They also preview the AEW World Trios Championship match between The Elite and House of Black.


Mark Briscoe and the Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) vs. Varsity Athletes (Josh Woods & Tony Nese) and Ari Daivari

Penta and Nese start the bout and feel each other out. The match breaks down as the two trios brawl. Penta gets a two count on a pumphandle slam. Daivari stops Penta from attacking Sterling. Nese and his team take control as they ground Penta and isolate him. Penta rallies with a DDT. He drops Woods with a slingblade. Fenix tags in and clears house with a flurry of offense. He takes Nese down with an acrobatic arm drag. Woods catches Fenix with a knee strike and slams him into the corner. Penta breaks up the pin. Briscoe tags in and takes the fight to Woods and Daivari. Mark drops Woods with a kick and knocks Nese off the apron with a big boot.


The Lucha Brothers dive onto Nese and Daivari on the outside. Mark dives onto them after he vaults off a chair. Mark gets crotched on the ropes. The Lucha Brothers get involved, and everyone is down after a Tower of Doom. Nese gets a two count with a 450 Splash. Sterling distracts the referee, and Daivari breaks something over Mark’s head. Mark kicks out of the pin after a double-team move. Penta and Fenix take and Daivari out with some combination offense. Mark hits the Froggy Bow on Daivari for the win.


Winners: Mark Briscoe and the Lucha Brothers


Alex Abrahantes shoves Sterling into the ring, and he gets dropped with the Fear Factor.


AEW Double or Nothing is announced for May 28.

RJ City interviews Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, and Daniel Garcia. Menard is upset, and his nipples aren’t hard, because the JAS has been banned from ringside for Chris Jericho’s match. Parker says he doesn’t feel like himself and his hair is out of place. Garcia says Ricky Starks is soft, and Jericho has the match in the bag.


In an interview, Toni Storm refuses to reveal her and Saraya’s plan for the women’s title match. She sprays RJ City with some spray pain.


Renee Paquette interviews Britt Baker, who says she added legitimacy to the women’s division. She says Jamie Hayter is the best women’s wrestler in the world. Baker also says Toni Storm and Saraya are confused, and no one cares about what they have to say.


In an interview, Powerhouse Hobbs previewed his upcoming TNT Championship match on AEW Dynamite. City asks to touch the Face of the Revolution ring.


Sonjay Dutt looks forward to the tag title match and says everyone’s worst nightmare of Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal winning the gold will come true tonight.


Adam Cole discusses the looming premiere of AEW: All Access and previews his return to the ring.


Main Show


Jericho Appreciation Society Barred From Ringside: Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Starks

Starks, whose ribs are taped up, takes the fight to Jericho and takes control early on. The match spills out of the ring briefly. They return back to the squared circle, and Jericho gains the upper hand. Starks evades the Lionsault. Jericho suplexes Starks onto the ropes and knocks him off the apron, sending him into the apron. The former world champion maintains the advantage with a lionsault and sends Starks to the outside with a dropkick.


Starks rallies and gets a two count with a DDT. Jericho regains the upper hand. Starks counters a Codebreaker, but Jericho reverses a Spear into a Codebreaker for a two count. Jericho and Starks trade blows. Starks nails Jericho with a Spear for a two count. Jericho traps Starks in the Walls of Jericho. Starks reverses it into a single-leg crab. Sammy Guevara comes down the ramp, but Action Andretti tackles him and fights him off. Jericho hits Starks with Floyd the bat. Starks blocks the Judas Effect and hits the Roshambo for the win.


Winner: Ricky Starks


The Final Burial: Christian Cage vs. “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry

Cage and Perry take the fight to each other. The fight spills outside. Cage tries to run away into the crowd, but Perry chases him down. Back in the ring, Cage gains the upper hand and grounds Perry. “Jungle Boy” rallies with a dive to the outside and slams Cage into the steel steps. Cage trips Perry on the steel steps and he lands hard on the steps. The veteran whips Perry with his belt and chokes him with it.


Cage pulls some chairs out of the casket. Perry and Cage fight by the casket, and Christian hits a back body drop on the floor. Perry dives off the stage and lands on Cage. Cage kicks Perry below the belt and slams his head on the casket. He tries to close the lid, but Perry fights out. Cage hits the Killswitch on the floor. He goes for a Con-Chair-To, but Perry evades it. Cage chokes Perry with a shovel. Perry dodges Cage’s attempt to hit him with the shovel. He uses the shovel while he locks Cage in the Snare Trap. Perry blasts Christian with the Con-Chair-To. He puts Cage in the casket, closes the lid, and shoves the casket down to win the match.


Winner: “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry


AEW World Trios Championship: The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks) (c) vs. The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews) (with Julia Hart)

Omega and Matthews start the bout and feel each other out. They trade fast-paced counters. Black tags in, and they exchange counters as they’re evenly matched. King and Matt Jackson tag in. Matt uses his quickness to evade King, but the big man takes control. Both trios face off and trade blows. The Young Bucks double-team Matthews, Matt dives onto Matthews and Black at ringside. King chops Omega, who fires back with a hurricanrana. Omega dives onto King, Matthews and Black on the outside. Nick rocks King with a kick. King slams Nick and chops Matt. He slams Omega into the barricade. Omega tags in and takes King down with a diving crossbody. He takes King down with a leg lariat. House of Black gains the upper hand, but The Elite rally.


Omega tries to slam King, but he powers out. King levels Omega with a lariat. Black drills Omega with a knee strike. Matt breaks up a knee bar, but King nails Omega with a forearm. Matt rocks Buddy with a superkick. Black stuns Matt with a stiff knee strike. Omega fires back with a knee strike on Black, and both men are down. Hart distracts Nick, and King goes for a sleeper hold, but Matt kicks him. Omega drills King with a V-trigger. Omega and Black are left alone, and Omega hits the snap dragon suplex. Hart distracts Omega, and he accidentally takes her out with a V-trigger. Black gets a near fall with a heel kick. House of Black hits Dante’s Inferno for a near fall. King dives onto the Bucks on the outside. The Bucks superkick Black, Omega, and King. The Elite get a near fall with the BTE Trigger. Matthews rocks Nick with a knee strike. House of Black gets the win with the Dante’s Infero.

AEW Women’s World Championship: Jamie Hayter (c) (with Britt Baker) vs. Ruby Soho vs. Saraya (with Toni Storm)

Saraya brings the fight to Hayter. Soho takes Saraya down with a diving dropkick. The match spills into the crowd. Saraya gains the upper hand and grounds Hayter. Soho takes Hayter down with a diving crossbody. Hayter rallies with a lariat that takes both of her opponents down. Soho dumps Saraya with a Saito suplex. Hayter drops Soho with a backbreaker. Soho slams Hayter face-first into the mat. Saraya traps Soho in a submission, but Hayter breaks it up with a lariat. Hayter drops Storm with a lariat. Baker distracts Saraya, and Soho hits her with the Destination Unknown. Hayter breaks up the pin. Hayter gets a two count with a roll up and stacks Soho up for the win.

Storm attacks Hayter after the bell. Baker gets involved, and Soho watches as Saraya and Storm lay her out. Soho attacks Saraya and says, :You don’t run this place. This is our home, bitches.” Soho drops Hayter with the Destination Unknown and drops Baker. Saraya gives her spray paint to Soho, who spray paints an “L” on Hayter and Baker.


Texas Death Match: Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Adam Page

Page takes the fight to Moxley during his entrance, and they brawl in the crowd. They get in the ring and chop each other. They trade blows. Hangman gets some barbed wire and grinds it into Moxley’s forehead. Moxley is bleeding, and he hits Page with a barbed-wire-wrapped fist. “Mox” gets a fork and repeatedly jabs it into Hangman’s head, busting him open in the process. Moxley grinds the fork into Page’s head. Page sends Moxley into a barbed-wire wrapped chair. Moxley stomps Page. Hangman powerbombs Moxley onto a barbed-wire wrapped chair.


Hangman hits a moonsault while his abdomen is wrapped in barbed wire. Moxley grinds Page’s hand between two bricks and stomps on it. A piledriver on some steel chain puts Page down, but he keeps fighting. Page punches Moxley. “Mox” goes to the outside and gets two chairs. Both men are down after a lariat. Page hits Moxley with some barbed-wire wrapped forearms. Page slams Moxley onto a barbed-wire wrapped chair. Page hits the Deadeye onto the barbed-wire wrapped chair. Hangman dives onto Moxley and sends him back-first onto a barbed-wire board. Page grinds the barbed wire on Moxley’s back and his face. Moxley sends Page crashing off the top and through a barbed-wire board. Page narrowly avoids getting counted out. Moxley and Page keep trading blows. Moxley counters a Buckshot Lariat into a Death Rider. He hits a running Stomp on a brick. Moxley locks in a choke. Page escapes and levels Moxley with a lariat. Moxley kicks Page below the belt, but Page hits him with a brick. Page hits a Buckshot, and Moxley gets up, so Page hits him with another one. Page chokes Moxley with the chain in the ropes, and Moxley taps out.


Winner: Hangman Page


TNT Championship: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Wardlow

Wardlow charges Joe and drives him out of the ring. He slams Joe into the barricade. Joe gains the upper hand with a dive. Joe gets Wardlow back in the ring and punches him in the corner. Wardlow hits a Whisper in the Wind and hits some shoulders to Joe in the corner. He grounds the champion and hits a clothesline in the corner. Joe takes out Wardlow’s leg and drills him with a series of strikes. Joe slams Wardlow to the mat and targets his leg. He traps Wardlow in a heel hook. Wardlow escapes and drops Joe with a spinebuster. Wardlow hits an F10 and a diving senton for a two count. Joe locks Wardlow in a sleeper hold and takes him to the mat. Wardlow reaches the ropes to break the hold.


Powerhouse Hobbs is shown watching in the crowd. Wardlow drops Joe with a powerbomb. Joe levels him with a lariat. Wardlow takes Joe down and locks in a sleeper hold. Joe’s arm falls three times, so the referee calls for the bell.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn) (c) vs. Orange Cassidy & Danhausen vs. The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) vs. Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal (with Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh)

Cassidy gains an early advantage. Jarrett takes control and struts. Danhausen takes Lethal down with a hurricanrana. The Gunns gain the upper hand. Cassidy drops Austin with a DDT and dives onto Colten on the outside. Austin tags Lethal, who trades punches with Cassidy. The Acclaimed enter the action, but Dutt gets involved. The former champions hit Dutt with Scissor Me Timbers. Bowens and Caster scissor. Lethal takes control, with some help from The Gunns. Jarrett chokes Bowens in the corner. The Gunns and Lethal & Jarrett continue to work together. They isolate Bowens, but Caster tags in and clears house. Lethal superkicks Caster and dumps him to the outside. The Gunns turn on Lethal and Jarrett. Singh grabs the Gunns by the throat and drives them out of the ring.


Dutt faces off with Danhausen, who breaks Sonjay’s pencil. Cassidy drills Singh with an Orange Punch. Danhausen hits Singh below the belt. Billy Gunn drops Singh with a Fameasser and does a few Crotch Chops. The Gunns attack their dad. The Acclaimed take control, and Caster hits the Mic Drop, but the pin is broken up. Colten sends Bowens over the barricade. Jarrett gets his guitar, but Caster ducks it. Caster tries to use the guitar, but the referee stops him. Jarrett hits the Stroke on Caster after Lethal hits him with the Golden Globe Award, but Max kicks out. Aubrey Edwards gets in Jarrett’s face, and he pushes her. Aubrey shoves back, and The Gunns send Jarrett to the outside. The Gunns hit the 3:10 to Yuma on Danhausen for the win.

In the ring, Renee Paquette interviews The Gunns. They say they demand respect as they list their accomplishments. FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) interrupt and come to the ring. They take the fight to The Gunns. They spike Colten with a spike piledriver and hit Austin with the Shatter Machine. FTR briefly grab the titles and give them back to The Gunns.

60-Minute Iron Man Match: MJF (c) vs. Bryan Danielson

MJF gets a special entrance, as a live orchestra plays the beginning of his entrance. He wears the same Devil mask he wore when he returned at AEW All Out 2022. MJF and Danielson feel each other out. Danielson gains the upper hand and wrenches him in a surfboard stretch. They trade counters as they go back and forth. They’re evenly matched. MJF leaves the ring when Danielson gains the upper hand. MJF gets back in the ring after he plays some mind games. Danielson outmaneuvers MJF and goes for a surfboard stretch. Danielson kicks MJF in the corner. MJF slams him face-first into the turnbuckle.


MJF flips off the crowd. Danielson hits a back body drop. MJF snaps Danielson’s arm on the ropes. MJF targets Danielson’s arm and pulls his hair to take him down. Danielson hits a dropkick. He goes for a dive, but MJF counters and sends Danielson’s arm into the barricade. MJF hits a Hammerlock DDT for a two count. MJF continues to hone in on the arm and slams the challenger onto it. Danielson powerbombs MJF and kicks him in the corner. Danielson hits a hurricanrana on the top rope. MJF stomps Danielson’s elbow. He powerbombs Danielson onto his knee. MJF goes for a dive, but Danielson moves, so MJF lands on his knee. Danielson dives onto him at ringside. MJF locks in his arm bar and transitions into a slam for a two count. They trade pin attempts and roll around the ring. They keep trading pins, and neither man gets a three count. Danielson floors MJF with a lariat. Danielson hits the running knee and gets the pin.


Danielson Leads 1-0


MJF hits Danielson below the belt and rolls him up for the pin. Danielson gets a point for a disqualification. He then pins Danielson again.


The match is tied 2-2


The match goes to the outside. Danielson slams MJF onto a chair. Danielson floors MJF with a running dropkick. Back in the ring, Danielson locks in a Figure-Four. MJF tells Danielson he hates him and slaps him. Danielson keeps up the pressure, and MJF reaches the ropes. The two foes battle on the top rope, and Danielson goes crashing down onto the ring apron. MJF hits a diving elbow drop through a table at ringside. MJF gets back in the ring, and Danielson barely avoids getting back into the ring in time. MJF gets Danielson back outside and hits a Tombstone through a table. MJF gouges Danielson’s open wound on his head. MJF hits the Heatseeker and pins Danielson.


MJF Leads 3-2


MJF punches Danielson when he’s down. He brings up his “Best in the World” nickname and tells him he sucks. He brings up Danielson’s children. He says he’s the best in the world. Danielson tries to rally, but he falls down. MJF blows his snot at him. MJF drops him with a headbutt. Danielson fires up and hits a running knee off the apron. Danielson dives onto MJF off the top rope. He dumps MJF off the top rope and hits a diving headbutt, and MJF is busted open. Danielson hits the running knee and locks in the Regal Stretch, forcing MJF to tap out.


The Match is tied 3-3


MJF catches Danielson and locks in the Salt of the Earth, but Danielson rolls through and goes for the LeBell Lock. He rolls through and locks it in, but MJF counters it and locks in the Salt of the Earth. He stops Danielson from reaching the ropes and wrenches his leg behind him, but Danielson uses his other leg to reach the ropes. The two enemies trade blows, and neither man goes down. They fall to their knees after they exchange more stiff shots. They fire up with more blows as the match hits the 55-minute mark. MJF hits the Heatseeker for a two count. Danielson hits hammer and elbow strikes. MJF hits a Tombstone off the second rope. He lands on his knee and clutches it. MJF pins Danielson, who kicks out and locks in a single-leg crab. He wrenches it in as the match is down to 60 seconds. Danielson keeps the hold for the entire last minute, and MJF taps after the bell.


The match ends in a 3-3 draw


The announcer confirms that the match ends in a draw, and MJF retains. Danielson is on his feet as MJF is being administered oxygen by the medical team. Tony Schiavone comes to ringside and says the match will be continue with Sudden Death rules.


MJF shoves the referee. Referee Bryce Remsberg shoves back, and Danielson gets a two count with a roll up. MJF hits Danielson below the belt and gets a near fall. MJF grabs his title, and Remsberg gets in his face. He convinces MJF not to use the belt. MJF goes to use his diamond ring, but Danielson drops him with a hurricanrana. Danielson gets a near fall with his running knee. Danielson wrenches MJF in a knee bar, but MJF reaches the ropes as he taps. Danielson thinks he has won as MJF rolls out of the ring. He grabs the oxygen tank and hits Danielson with it. He puts Danielson in the LeBell Lock, and Danielson’s arm falls twice, but he fires up at the last second. MJF keeps the hold locked in, and Danielson taps out.

MJF Wins 4-3
