As various television networks continue to battle it out over who will get the television rights to All Elite Wrestling, Chris Jericho has recently said that an announcement should be coming sooner rather than later.
Speaking to Cheddar about the new TV deal and the upcoming Double or Nothing event that AEW is putting on, Jericho let it slip that an announcement could be coming. “May 25th is the first show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. We sold it out in four minutes, 12,000 tickets,” he said (via Fightful). “So there’s a lot of buzz about AEW, and in the Fall — we’re gonna be starting our weekly television on a huge cable company that we’re gonna be announcing very soon so, it’s not a competition, it’s just an alternative and it’s something that I think people and wrestling fans are waiting for because it’s been a long time with just the WWE, just one company.”
The specific mention of a “huge cable company” is important, as many have been theorizing on which company would win out in the bidding war. While many think that Time Warner will be the network to eventually seal the deal, it remains to be seen, and thankfully fans won’t have to wait too long, it looks like.
