Joe Hendry Retains TNA World Championship At Rebellion

The pre-show panelists, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Gia Miller, Tommy Dreamer and Dave LaGreca are joined by TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella at the top of the entrance stage. They give their predictions, with Jackson Jr. picking Ethan Page and the rest proclaiming they “believe in Joe Hendry.”

Santino then directs our attention to the big screen. The pre-match video package airs to tell the story leading up to our third and final portion of tonight’s triple-main event. When it wraps up, the Tale of the Tape graphic flashes on the screen.

Frankie Kazarian’s theme hits and out comes the Call Your Shot winner, who is cashing in his title opportunity in this triple-threat title tilt tonight. WWE NXT Superstar Ethan Page makes his way out next. Last, but certainly not least, Joe Hendry’s theme hits and the crowd erupts as the TNA World Champion emerges.

The ring announcer handles the final formal pre-match ring introductions for the champion and the challengers, and then the bell sounds to get things officially off-and-running in our final match of the evening. The commentators are quick to point out Hendry’s heavily taped up injured shoulder.

Hendry takes the initial offensive lead, looking for his Standing Ovation finisher straight out of the gate. Page starts to take over, focusing his attack on the aforementioned injured shoulder and arm of Hendry. Page hits a big suplex on Hendry into Kazarian as he was trying to get back into the ring.

Kazarian pulls out a table and enters it into the mix, prompting Hannifan and Rehwoldt to remind everyone that there are no rules in triple-threat matches, so it is perfectly legal to use. Kazarian heads into the ring and starts to go to work on Page, and then Hendry.

Hendry begins no-selling his punches. Kazarian rolls him up, sees Page coming, and hits him with a suplex into a bridge for a double pin attempt on Page and Hendry for a count of two. Kazarian looks for the Chicken Wing on Page, but Page backs him into the corner over-and-over again to free himself.

We see a wild power bomb and super-plex combo stacked spot out of the corner. Kazarian is sent crashing into the timekeeper on the floor. Page hits a draping DDT to Hendry on the floor. The Call Your Shot gauntlet trophy is used as a weapon. Back in the ring, Kazarian mocks Hendry and hits Fade To Black. He goes for the cover, but Page breaks it up.

Page hits a knee to Kazarian but then walks into an Olympic Slam from Hendry. Kazarian hits Angels Wings for a close two count of his own. All three guys are down and recovering as fans chant “This is Awesome.” Kazarian slaps the Chicken Wing on the bad shoulder of Hendry. They back body drop Page still in the hold. Hendry begins fading until a loud “We Believe” chant brings him back to life.

Kazarian tries Fade to Black on Hendry from the ring apron through the table. Hendry escapes and hits an Attitude Adjustment on Kazarian through the table on the floor. Back in the ring, Hendry goes for Standing Ovation, but Page tries countering into a RKO out of nowhere in a repeat of WrestleMania. Hendry avoids it and seconds later does connect with his Standing Ovation for the win to retain his TNA World Championship.

Trick Williams “Whoops That Trick” Named Joe Hendry

Once the main event of the evening wraps up, Joe Hendry’s viral smash hit theme song plays as Hannifan and Rehwoldt sing his praises and begin wrapping up the broadcast. Just as they thank the fans for tuning in, out of nowhere, Hendry turns into a pump kick from WWE NXT Superstar Trick Williams.

The crowd is in shock. Hannifan and Rehwoldt are at a loss for words as well. Williams has an evil look in his eyes as he takes in the L.A. crowd inside the Galen Center. He waits for Hendry to get up and hits his Trick Shot finisher on him to leave him laying. That’s how TNA Rebellion goes off the air.
