Tyrus will defend the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at NWA’s next pay-per-view, and he will sign the contract for the match on NWA Powerrr.
At NWA Hard Timed 3, Tyrus won the gold by defeating Trevor Murdoch and Matt Cardona in a three-way match. Cardona previously won the title in February by beating Murdoch at NWA PowerrrTrip, but he was forced to relinquish the title due to an injury in June. Murdoch won the vacant championship at NWA Alwayz Ready, and he was scheduled to defend the title against Cardona at Hard Times 3, but Tyrus cashed in his Lucky Seven option as the NWA World Television Champion to get a shot at the world title.
On December 9, NWA announced that Tyrus and Cardona will sign the contract for their title match on the first-ever live episode of NWA Powerrr on January 31.
From NWA:
Matt Cardona continues to argue that he is the uncrowned NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion — as even after Hard Times 3’s triple threat match that saw Tyrus crowned the new champion, Cardona has proclaimed: “My rematch is still required! I’ve never been pinned to lose the 10 lbs of Gold!!” NWA President William Patrick Corgan wants to put the matter to rest once and for all, so at the first-ever NWA LIVE Powerrr in Knoxville, TN, the One-on-One rematch between NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Tyrus and former champion Matt Cardona at the NWA’s next Pay-Per-View will be set in stone during the official contract signing in the middle of the ring!!!Be there for this epic moment as the NWA returns to the Knoxville Convention Center on January 31, 2023, for the FIRST-EVER LIVE #NWAPowerrr event!!
Indy Pro Wrestling will provide more information as it becomes available.
