Preview: Rey Horus vs. ROH World TV Champion Dragon Lee

Here’s a preview of this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling:”

ROH World Television Title Match: Champion Dragon Lee vs. Rey Horus

At Final Battle last month, Horus was originally scheduled to defend the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Title he holds with Bandido and Flamita, but his partners were not permitted to travel to the show due to COVID-19 testing.

He ended up facing Dalton Castle in an impromptu match that night, and to the surprise of many, Horus pinned the former ROH World Champion. As a result, he has been granted a shot at Lee’s ROH World Television Title.

Horus, who was trained by the legendary Rey Mysterio Sr., has been wrestling for well over a decade and held a number of championships in Mexico, including The Crash’s heavyweight and cruiserweight titles. Now, he looks to become a double champion in ROH.

He’s faced Lee before, but never in an ROH ring.

“I have a lot of respect for you. I know you’re a great champion and you’re an amazing athlete,” Horus said of Lee. “But this day, the winner will be me.”

Lee, who has held the ROH World Television Title since December 2019, is one of the most gifted competitors in the sport. Since forming La Faccion Ingobernable, he’s demonstrated a mean streak and win-at-all-costs mentality, just like that of his brother, ROH World Champion RUSH.

“Perro, this time I’m going to destroy you,” Lee said of Horus. “You’re going to feel pain like never before.”

Pure Rules Match: Flip Gordon vs. Rhett Titus

After Gordon lost a hard-fought match to ROH Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham at Final Battle, he refused to adhere to the Code of Honor. That angered everyone in The Foundation, especially Titus, who subsequently demanded to face Gordon.

“If you disrespect the Code of Honor, you disrespect each and every guy that laid the foundation for you to have a job here -- guys like me! I don’t take too kindly to that,” Titus said. “And now it’s you and me in a Pure Rules match, and I am going to beat the honor into you. And when I defeat you, you will be shaking my hand afterwards.”

Gordon and Titus have faced each other twice before in ROH, with Gordon winning both matches. “The Mercenary” said this time won’t be any different even though it will be contested under Pure Rules, which would seemingly give the advantage to Titus, whose career has been rejuvenated since joining Gresham, Jay Lethal and Tracy Williams in The Foundation.

“Congratulations, Rhett. Everybody’s happy for you. It’s finally your feel good moment,” Gordon said. “But I’m ‘The Mercenary.’ And I don’t give a damn about your feelings.”
