Major League Wrestling today announced Ultimo Guerrero vs. Esfinge in an opening round bout of the 2025 Opera Cup, part of the MLW FIGHTLAND TV taping on Saturday, September 13 at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, TX. The match will air at a later date as part of MLW programming on cable and digital platforms.

Two of CMLL’s most decorated luchadores collide in a first-time MLW matchup that could just as easily headline a Friday night at Arena México. But this fall, the battleground will be the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, TX.

Último Guerrero, the reigning MLW National Openweight Champion, enters the tournament with veteran ferocity, big match experience, and a chip on his shoulder. A generational icon in CMLL, Guerrero is respected—and feared—for his ring generalship, punishing style, and signature Guerrero Special. He now looks to add the prestigious Opera Cup trophy to his already overflowing legacy.

Standing in his way is a younger, flashier, but equally dangerous force: Esfinge.

Known for his agility, intensity, and firebrand personality, Esfinge has become a breakout star in CMLL—capturing gold and earning respect from fans and veterans alike. His matches blend athleticism and flair with grit and fearlessness, making him a serious threat to anyone in the field.

This marks the first-ever Opera Cup appearance for both men, and with international pride on the line, neither plans to walk away quietly.
