AEW Dynamite Results (02/22/2023)


Orange Cassidy defended the AEW All-Atlantic Championship against Wheeler Yuta, Jon Moxley battled Evil Uno, and Skye Blue clashed with Saraya. Plus, ten teams faced off in the Revolution Tag Team Battle Royale, and Tony Khan made an announcement.


AEW All-Atlantic Championship: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Wheeler Yuta


Cassidy offers a handshake, but Yuta opts for a punch instead. The former friends trade counters and pin attempts. Yuta gains the upper hand and grounds Cassidy. They exchange pin attempts. Claudio Castagnoli comes to ringside and slaps Yuta. The “pep talk” fires up Yuta, who takes control and slams Cassidy into the barricade. He dumps Cassidy over a table at ringside. Cassidy puts his hands in his pockets, and Yuta batters him with a series of strikes. Cassidy hits his patented kicks and gains momentum with a flurry of offense. Yuta catches Cassidy with a kick and hits a diving elbow strike.


He sends Cassidy to the outside with a dropkick. Cassidy evades a diving splash, but Yuta maintains the advantage. Cassidy seemingly hugs Yuta, who rocks him with a headbutt. Yuta drops Cassidy with a German suplex. Cassidy stacks Yuta up with a two count. Yuta spits in Cassidy’s face. They trade blows. Both men are down after a double clothesline. Cassidy dumps Yuta on the apron and hits a diving DDT onto the floor. The champion hits a tornado DDT. Yuta drills Cassidy with a piledriver. Yuta gets another two count. Cassidy nails him with the Orange Punch for a near fall. Yuta kicks out of a Beach Break, but another Orange Punch puts him down for the count.’

Backstage, Evil Uno was asked about his match with Jon Moxley. Hangman Page tried to interrupt, but Uno got fired up, saying it’s time for Dark Order to stand up for themselves.


Ricky Stark comes to the ring and talks about his feud with the Jericho Appreciation Society. He says it’s clear that Chris Jericho doesn’t want to have a rematch with him, so he’s moving on. Starks reveals that he has an open contract for a match against him for a match at AEW Revolution. Jericho interrupts and says Starks is trying to bait him into another match. Jericho says they’re not done until he says they are. Jericho tells Starks he’s not at his level, and he wishes Starks luck in his open challenge. Peter Avalon comes out, and Jericho drops him with a Judas Effect. Jericho comes to the ring and says you can’t have AEW Revolution without him. He wonders whether he should sign the contract. Starks questions whether Jericho can get the job done by himself, without the Jericho Appreciation Society. Jericho says he would add a stipulation that would bar the JAS from coming to the ring. Starks gave him a pen, and Jericho signs the contract. Jericho tells Starks to be careful what he wishes for.


The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) vs. Lee Moriarty & Big Bill (with Stokely Hathaway)


The Acclaimed showcase their chemistry early and often. Moriarty gains the upper hand and tags in Big Bill. The powerhouse overpowers Caster. The Gunns come to the stage as Bill continues to control the action. Bowens rallies, but Bill drills him with a big boot. At ringside, Caser slams the big man into the barricade. The Gunns attack “Daddy Ass” at ringside, but The Acclaimed chase them off. Caster slams Big Bill into the ring post. Moriarty drops Bowens with a flatliner. Caster gets the win with the Mic Drop.

Christian Cage comes to the stage for an interview, but “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry attacked him. Perry grabbed a chair and set up a Con-Chair-To, but he hesitated. Cage hit him below the belt and bashed him with a chair. Cage slams Perry’s head repeatedly onto a chair. Perry is busted open, and officials come out to stop the attack.


A video package recaps Wardlow’s promo from last week. Samoa Joe says he took Wardlow’s ponytail to send him a message. He says the biggest mistake Wardlow will make will be getting back in the ring with him.


Saraya (with Toni Storm) with Skye Blue


Blue takes the fight to Saraya. Storm distracts Blue, and Saraya gains the upper hand. Blue rallies and rocks Saraya with a knee strike and a dropkick. Storm distracts the referee, and Blue knocks her off the apron. Saraya drills Blue with a thrust kick. Saraya wrenches Blue in the PTO submission hold and makes her tap out.


Winner: Saraya


AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker run to the ring to stop Saraya and Storm from attacking Blue. Ruby Soho comes to the stage and motions for the title.


In-Ring Segment: Bryan Danielson


Danielson gets a microphone, and the fans chant “Yes”. He says he’s going to do everything in his power to beat MJF for the title. Danielson addresses MJF saying he hates him last week. Danielson recaps the terrible things MJF has done to him. MJF interrupts and says he knows who Danielson really is, just like he knows who he really is. MJF says he was abandoned by everyone who told him they loved him, but he met a girl who changed his view of the world. He recalls how he proposed to that girl, but she left him. MJF stated that the only thing stopping him from “calling it a day” is the AEW World Championship.


He describes how fans love Danielson, but he takes what he was for granted. MJF says he has hates Danielson because he has had more concussions and head trauma than anyone, but he keeps wrestling. He tells Danielson that by wrestling despite his injuries, he’s taking his family for granted. He says Danielson spits in his face by doing that, as that’s what he would kill for. MJF looks to the camera and addresses Danielson’s kids as he vows to make their father pay for his selfishness. MJF gets in the ring and starts to say he’s going to give Danielson early onset CTE, but Danielson attacks him. Security officials separate them. Danielson gets free and attacks MJF, and MJF does the same, but they’re eventually pulled apart.


Backstage, Jamie Hayter, alongside Britt Baker, says she’s pissed because Saraya and Toni Storm are trying to destroy what they have built. She notes that Saraya and Ruby Soho are both worthy of a title shot.


AEW Revolution Tag Team Battle Royale


Order of Elimination:

  • Tony Nese & Ari Daivari (Eliminated by The Lucha Brothers)

  • Mark Briscoe attacked Josh Woods, and the distraction proved to be costly for Nese and Daivari.

  • Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher) (The Butcher & The Blade)

  • La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush & Preston Vance) (The Lucha Brothers)

  • Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver) (The Butcher)

  • Jericho Appreciation Society (Angelo Parker & Matt Menard) (Best Friends)

  • Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta)

  • Jeff Jarrett attacked Beretta with a chair at ringside before the Best Friends were eliminated.

  • Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) (The Butcher)

  • The Butcher & The Blade (Rey Fenix)

  • The Lucha Brothers (Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero Miedo) (Jeff Jarrett)

  • Best Friends (Trent Beretta & Chuck Taylor)

  • Satnam Singh and Orange Cassidy interfered to save Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal and Trent Beretta from getting eliminated, respectively. Jarrett eliminated Beretta to win.

Malakai Black and The House of Black continued to target The Elite in a promo, as Brody King vowed to build a new foundation that is built to last.


Tony Khan’s Announcement


Tony Khan is standing by for an interview, as he’s set to make an announcement. He introduces Adam Cole, who announces that AEW All Access, a new reality show, will premiere in March, and it will air after AEW Dynamite. He also announces that he will make his return to the ring the night of the show’s premiere.


Jon Moxley vs. Evil Uno


Uno takes the fight to Moxley and holds his own with the former world champion. Moxley baters Uno and busts him open, as the Dark Order member is bleeding badly. Uno hits Moxley with two piledrivers. Uno refuses to give up when Moxley locks in the bulldog choke. Moxley traps him in another choke, and Uno passes out, so the referee calls for the bell.


Winner: Jon Moxley


Moxley refuses to break the hold. John Silver and Alex Reynolds come down and try to break it up. Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta brawl with them. Hangman Page comes to the ring and fights Moxley. He wraps barbed wire around his fist and hits Moxley with it. Moxley ultimately gets away.
